TCFgo ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website tcfgo.com and related services (collectively, the "Service"), an online practice platform for learners preparing for the TCF Canada exam. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
TCFgo is an independent study platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to France Éducation international, the TCF exam, or any official testing organization.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your email address or username and a password (stored in hashed form). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address and basic profile identifier. You may optionally set a display name. We do not require your real name, government ID, or phone number.
Practice Data. To provide our core features, we store the practice work you produce on the platform, including:
- Your answers to practice questions and mock exams;
- Written responses you submit for AI scoring;
- Audio recordings of your speaking practice, and machine-generated transcripts of those recordings;
- Scores, feedback, and study-progress records generated from your practice;
- Optional study information you provide, such as your planned exam date.
Payment and Membership Records. If you purchase a paid membership on the website, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor (Creem). We do not collect or store your full credit card or bank details on our servers. Card information is submitted directly to the payment processor. We receive and keep only the information needed to manage your membership, such as the order reference, purchased plan, amount, and your resulting membership validity period. If you activate membership with an activation code instead, we record the code redemption and your resulting membership status. Payment for such codes is handled by the sales channel where you obtained them.
Device and Usage Data. When you use the Service, we automatically receive certain technical information, such as your IP address, approximate location derived from it (country and city), browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps. While you are signed in, we also compute a device identifier from your browser's technical characteristics. We use it to recognize the devices signed in to your account, to enforce the one-person-per-account rule, and to detect abuse.
Support Messages. If you contact us or submit feedback in the Service, we keep the content of your message and our reply.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including signing you in and syncing your practice history across devices;
- Generate AI-based scores and feedback for your practice responses;
- Track your progress and provide study features such as statistics, review schedules, and a wrong-question notebook;
- Process purchases and activate memberships;
- Respond to your support requests and send service emails (such as verification codes and sign-in links);
- Protect the Service against fraud, abuse, account sharing, and automated attacks;
- Analyze aggregate usage to improve features and performance;
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use a small number of cookies and local storage entries that are necessary for the Service to function:
- Session cookies to keep you signed in;
- Preference entries to remember settings such as your language;
- Security cookies set by our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare), used to protect the Service from bots and abuse.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not embed third-party advertising or analytics tracking scripts on our pages.
4. AI Processing of Practice Content
Our scoring and feedback features are powered by AI models and speech-recognition services operated by third-party providers. When you submit a written response or a speaking recording for evaluation, the content of that response (text, audio, or its transcript) is processed by these providers to generate your results.
We send the practice content and the context needed for evaluation. We do not send your email address or password to these providers. They process the content to deliver the requested evaluation and are not permitted to use it to market to you.
5. Institutions
If your account was created or is managed by a school or training institution, the administrators and teachers of that institution can view your account status, practice records, assignments, attendance, and study reports within the Service. Questions about how the institution uses that information should be directed to the institution.
6. Information We Do Not Collect or Share
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
- We do not track your activity across other websites.
- We do not display third-party advertising on the Service.
- We do not send unsolicited marketing messages.
We share information with third parties only in the limited cases described in this policy: infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, file storage, content delivery, and email delivery), our payment processor (Creem) for handling purchases and refunds, AI and speech-recognition providers as described in Section 4, the institution that manages your account as described in Section 5, and where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of the Service and its users.
7. Data Retention and Security
We retain your account and practice data for as long as your account is active, so that your study history and progress remain available to you. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate security purposes (such as fraud-prevention records).
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed password storage, access controls, and network-level protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- Access and update your account information in your account settings;
- Request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us;
- Disable cookies in your browser settings (note that the Service requires session cookies to keep you signed in);
- Stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time.
We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.
10. International Users
The Service is operated for learners worldwide. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be stored and processed on servers located in jurisdictions other than your own, where data-protection laws may differ. We apply the protections described in this policy regardless of where data is processed.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and provide notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
This policy is provided in English and Chinese. If the two versions differ, the English version prevails.
